Having a bit of fun with the mix: Greg Morris
Mark Laidler was one of the few PA operators I know to record live to what used to be called Desk Tapes. This was a recording directly from the mixing desk to a cassette recorder. Most times these recordings are what you would hear from the Front Of House mix (PA speakers), so the vocals are usually much louder than anything else in the recording. Mark on the other hand, would go to the trouble of doing a separate mix in his headphones and record that mix so effectively, he was doing two mixes at the same time.
Cassette recorders were becoming a thing of the past and being replaced with mp3 Recorder, so by the time he recorded us he was offering something that could last forever, as tape will eventually die. We were lucky enough to capture these two moments. To say Mark is missed in this business is an understatement.
